Ingredients

  • 200 g tempeh
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper

Steps

  1. Slice the tempeh into thin strips about 3 mm thick, like bacon rashers.
  2. Whisk the soy sauce, maple syrup, olive oil, smoked paprika, vinegar, garlic powder and pepper, then marinate the strips for 15 minutes, turning once.
  3. Lay the strips in the air fryer basket in a single layer, letting the excess marinade drip off first.
  4. Cook at 180°C for 10-12 minutes, turning halfway and brushing with the remaining marinade, until dark and crisp at the edges.
  5. Let them sit for 2 minutes to firm up, then serve.
