Mac and Cheese Bites

Ingredients

  • 500 g prepared mac and cheese, chilled and firm
  • 50 g cheddar, grated
  • 100 g panko breadcrumbs
  • 60 g plain flour
  • 2 piece eggs, beaten
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sunflower oil

Steps

  1. Mix the cold, firm mac and cheese with the grated cheddar, roll it into 20 walnut-sized balls and freeze them for 15 minutes so they keep their shape.
  2. Season the flour with smoked paprika and salt, then roll each ball in flour, beaten egg and panko until fully coated.
  3. Spray or brush the bites with oil and arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  4. Cook at 200°C for 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway, until deep golden and crisp all over.
  5. Serve straight away, while the cheesy centres are still molten.
